Digital SAT 2026: What Changed
The SAT transitioned fully to a digital, adaptive format starting in 2024. Here's what's different for 2026 test-takers:
2h 14m
Total Test Time (was 3h)
- Adaptive testing: The second module's difficulty adjusts based on your first module performance.
- Built-in Desmos calculator: Available for all math questions (no more calculator/no-calculator split).
- Shorter passages: Reading passages are shorter and more varied.
- Faster results: Scores typically available within days, not weeks.
Important: Many older SAT prep books (pre-2024) are designed for the paper-based SAT and may not reflect the current digital format. Make sure any book you buy explicitly covers the Digital SAT.
How We Evaluate SAT Prep Books
- Content Accuracy: Does the material match the current Digital SAT format?
- Practice Quality: Are practice questions realistic and well-calibrated?
- Strategy Depth: Does it teach test-taking strategies, not just content?
- Value: Price relative to the quantity and quality of material.
- Digital SAT Alignment: Does it address adaptive testing, Desmos integration, and the new format?
